| Greg O’Shannessy, Solicitor, Head of Litigation
Greg O’Shannessy commenced practice in 1997, following which he worked at one of Australia’s leading firms, where his core area of practice was insurance litigation, acting for defendants in employers’ liability and employment claims.
Greg joined Adams Solicitors in January 2006 and he now leads the litigation department. Greg’s main area of practice is commercial litigation and he acts in contractual disputes, construction claims, intellectual property claims, commercial property disputes, partnership disputes and claims arising out alleged breach of director’s duties. Greg also regularly acts in employment disputes including claims for unfair dismissal.
Other areas in which Greg and his team specialise include acting for claimants and defendants in professional negligence claims including claims against solicitors, building contractors and surveyors. He also acts for landlords and tenants and in commercial and residential property disputes including claims for relief from forfeiture, debt recovery and possession. Greg and his team are also developing an excellent practice in contentious probate claims. He has acted for trustees and personal representatives of estates in property disputes following death as well as claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975. Greg’s particular interest is claims involving challenges to Wills including challenges on the grounds of fraud.
Greg acts for claimants and defendants in all areas of practice and acts for both small and large companies. Wherever possible he employs informal settlement methods such as mediation before resorting to legal proceedings. He has a commercial mind and a key strength is his ability to form constructive working relationships with clients and opponents. |
