Adams has expertise and experience in all aspects of immigration law for private clients. In addition to helping clients wishing to invest or work in the UK, much of our advice in this area is concerned with helping people wishing to study here or simply bringing families together.
Adams will advise you on the prospects of success, prepare and submit your application for entry into the UK or further permission to stay, under all immigration categories, and monitor progress. Our support helps you to avoid unnecessary legal problems whether you wish to stay for a short time, a longer period or permanently. We will also make applications on behalf of dependents accompanying the main applicant.
For those wishing to work in the UK, it is normally necessary to apply for the appropriate work permit and this is often done via an employer. However, in some cases a permit is not required and workers can make their own application to the Home Office without the support of an employer. Permit-free categories include:
 Sole Representative
 Working Holidaymaker
 Fresh Talent Working in Scotland
 Student Nurses
 Postgraduate Doctors and Dentists
 Ministers of Religion
 UK Ancestry
 Domestic Workers in Private Households
 Private Servants of Diplomats
 Au Pair
Some of categories above are for a temporary stay only whilst others allow you to extend your stay. If you remain for long enough you may be able to apply for settlement through Indefinite Leave to Remain (IDLR). Nationals of the European Economic Area are generally able to do the same work on the basis of their rights under European Law rather than with specific permission.
The information above is designed only to provide a brief overview of the various options for private immigration. To find out more and to discover how Adams can help you, contact our expert immigration law solicitors based on 020 7790 2000 or complete our enquiry form.
